Criminal Background Check
The University of Illinois System conducts background checks on all job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent offer of employment. Convictions are not a bar to employment. Background checks will be performed in compliance with state and federal law.
Prior Sexual Misconduct Check
The University of Illinois System requires candidates selected for hire to disclose any documented finding of sexual misconduct or sexual harassment and to authorize inquiries to current and former employers regarding findings of sexual misconduct or sexual harassment. As a qualifying federal contractor, the University of Illinois System uses E-Verify to verify employment eligibility.
Export Control Review
Offers of employment by the University of Illinois System are also contingent upon a satisfactory export control review in accordance with U.S. export control laws and regulations and all University policies and procedures related to export controls.
Vaccination Requirement
University of Illinois Hospital and Clinics employees are encouraged to be up to date with their COVID-19 vaccinations and will be offered the vaccine as applicable. As an exception, there are two groups that must be vaccinated: researchers in COM doing Covid lab work with the vaccine and Police Academy new recruits must be vaccinated prior to beginning training. All other University of Illinois System employees are strongly encouraged to stay up to date with the most recent vaccination available as a barrier to serious illness.
Personnel Record Review
Illinois Personnel Record Review Act (820 ILCS 40) grants employees the right with certain exceptions to review and, when appropriate, to append their personnel records. To request your records, contact your HR office.
Annual Security and Fire Safety Reports
Each university makes available an Annual Security and Fire Safety Report. These reports include statistics from the previous three years concerning crime that occurred on campus, in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the university and statistics for fires in on-campus housing. The report also includes institutional policies concerning campus security and other safety information along with fire safety policies and procedures.
